the invention of voicemail
i don't have an answering machine at my place. i have a voicemail service like those provided with cell phones. i've had this service for about a year and everybody that calls me knows this. yet for some reason, certain relatives of mine have yet to realize that this means i cannot hear them while they're leaving a message, even though i explain it to them every time i call them back. it amazes me that i still get this:
my greeting: hi. tyler's not here right now. leave a message.
nameless relative: tyler...tyler pick up the phone...tyler, are you there? if you're there, pick up the phone, i gotta tell ya somethin'. hello?...are you there? fine, call me back. bye.
