matrix reloaded and sequels in generalthe long-awaited sequel to the matrix will be released may 15, 2003. as the story goes, there's a 20 minute pirate version floating around the web somewhere, complete with "insert special effects here" frames. haven't seen it, though. in fact, personally, i don't expect reloaded to be awesome. sequels rarely are. i just hope it doesn't blow. i'm starting to develop a personal rule about sequels: i don't watch 'em. there are flat out very few instances where the sequel is even half as good as the original [godfather 2 comes to mind as a successful sequel], which figures when you consider that the idea for the sequel probably rolled in about the same time as the cash from the original. at some point, you know the conversation went like this:
movie guy one: hey, we sure made a lot of money with that movie.
movie guy two: yep.
movie guy one: maybe we should make another one.
movie guy two: yep.
movie guy one: what are we gonna do for a plot?
movie guy two: eh...
movie guy one: right. we'll use the same one, then.
