house votes to rollback library clause of patriot act
on wednesday, the house of representatives voted 238-187 to block the clause in the patriot act which allows the fbi to check out your personal library lending records and book store sales in the ever-growing search for evildoers. its probably short-lived but its a nice relief for the moment as we stroll happily toward the police state we all dream of. its too bad for the fbi tho, cuz i'm sure the majority of the terrorist cells [at least in my neighborhood] are _always_ hanging out at the public library. fer sure. its the place to be for padawan suicide bombers, and "masterminds" of all sorts of dastardly deeds. it's pretty convenient actually. for example, my local library has recently dedicated a section to blowing things up with manure and/or imaginary planes. some fascinating reads. but if you're going to check something out, make sure its not an arabic flight training manual, or catcher in the rye. those are still sure to throw up red flags.
