comet one, probe nothing
nasa successfully managed to crash a probe into a comet yesterday. the article says that this is the first time a spacecraft touched the surface of a comet [which i find somewhat difficult to believe considering all the crap we leave in space], and is being touted as a "milestone for the US space agency...hopefully answering some basic questions about the origins of our solar system". i'm not sure how crashing a probe into a comet gives us clues to the origin of our solar system, but then again, i'm not a government paid nasa rocket scientist. i guess i should leave the scientific analysis to those who can manage to so wisely use $333 _million_ dollars. but hey, i shouldn't complain. at least this time they broke it on purpose.
