akira haraguchi has successfully recited 84,431 decimal places of pi [to contrast, i had to check the article again to make sure it said 84,431]. this doubles the previous record held, also by a japanese guy. he _had_ beat the previous record last september but had to stop at 54,000 digits cuz they were closing the building for the night. that's funny. i bet his wife could go half that far from hearing him practice all the time.
