"stealth" is MY word and you can't have it in 1985, leo stoller and his company rentamark.com was allowed to trademark to the single word "stealth" and ever since, he likes to spend his time sending cease-and-desist letters to any company or organization that employs use of the word "stealth" without his permission. he also refers to such groups as "third-party infringers". to quote him: We sue a lot of companies. he's not kidding either. among the list of companies he's sued are kmart, jvc, panasonic, and northrop grumman - the makers of the b2 stealth bomber. yeah. currently, he's in a legal dispute with sony over a recent movie [i bet you can't guess the name]. but the best part of the article is where he's quoted as saying: We're entitled to own it with all goods and services...We were there first. hahaha, he reminds me of that kid on the playground that, whenever losing, would make up new rules and swear that's how the game has always been played. so three things, leo: 1. the word "stealth" comes from the Middle English word "stelth", which in turn came from the Old English word "stæ?lth", none of which did you make up. i don't care what you trademarked or patented. trademarking a single word used in everyday speech is stupid and you know it. so stop. just stop it. find something better to do than trying to dictate who can use individual words. 2. in protest to your trademark, i've used the word stealth as many times as possible in this post without detracting from the otherwise unstealthy content. 3. stealth, stealth, stealth, stealth, stealth, stealth, stealth. |
